For earthmoving operations and materials handling,
excavators and loaders are essential pieces of equipment. In 2010 bauma once
again promises to be a giant shop window for new models, specially designed and
adapted to better meet the requirements of the market. We give you a rapid
run-down of some of the innovations you can expect to see at this year´s
leading world fair for the construction machinery sector in Munich.
LiuGong Machinery
Corporation is one of the Chinese
companies that will be represented at the exhibition in Munich between 19 and 25 April 2010. Among
its principal products are wheeled loaders – according to LiuGong, the company
has a world market share of over 17 percent in this category of machine. A new
development, specially for the European market, is the 816G. With a shovel
capacity of eight cubic metres and a rated load of 1600 kg, the 816G is
suitable for moving materials in landscaping operations, or for loading into
small concrete and gravel systems. The 816G has a breakout force of 55.8 kN and
a dumping height of over 2.4 m.
Hitachi
Construction Machinery is expanding its
mini excavator series. The ZX16-3 and the ZX18-3, available with cabin or protective
canopy, are suitable for light work in a confined space, such as for example
laying supply cables, in garden and landscaping work, and for general
earthworks. They are fitted with 3-cylinder engines (10.7 kW). Thanks to their
good power/weight ratio, these excavators accelerate faster and give a smoother
ride than the predecessor models, says the Japanese
manufacturer. The new mini excavators also have a higher working speed, can be
controlled more precisely, and, according to Hitachi, deliver 18 percent more digging
force than their predecessors. Because their operating weight is less than
1,800 kg, they can be transported on trailers operated by drivers with a normal
EU driving license.
British manufacturer JCB will be presenting a range of new developments in the Bavarian
capital, among them its latest and so far smallest mini telescopic loader, the
515-40 Miniscopic. This machine is just 1.8 m high, 2.97 m long and
weighs less than 3.5 tonnes. It offers four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering
and a hydrostatic transmission, a feature which in combination with the compact
design, is the secret to the machine´s manoeuvrability in the smallest of
spaces and on uneven ground, says the manufacturer. The 515-40 Miniscopic
loader can be used within buildings or containers. In addition, thanks to its
low weight, its operation on softer ground is improved. With its 50hp Deutz
engine it can lift 1,500 kg to a 4 m height.
At bauma 2010 Hyundai
Heavy Industries Europe (Belgium)
is planning to launch its 9 series excavators with operating weights of 1.6 to
50 tonnes at bauma 2010. According to the company the main emphasis in bringing
out these new designs has been on improving the working environment for the
driver. The three key benefits that bring greater comfort are the centralised
position for the driver in all models, speed and precision and continuing top
performance. For example a multifunctional LCD monitor and ergonomic operating
elements have been fitted to instrument panel, giving fast access to many functions
and checking options. For greater speed and precision, there is a new hydraulic
system which combines the benefits of the controllability of a 'positive'
system with the user-friendliness of a 'negative' system. The positive part
controls the movements of the boom and excavator arm, while the negative part
supports the bucket, rotary and drive movements as required.
bauma in brief A
record 555,000 square metres and more of indoor and outdoor exhibition space
(gross) at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre are being dedicated to a display of
the latest products from the international construction, building-materials and
mining machinery sectors between 19 and 25 April 2010. Again over 3,000
exhibitors are expected to make use of this event, the world´s biggest trade
fair for the sector, as a platform for innovations and marketing. For further
